My First Morsbags

I decided I need some grocery bags. I've got a few random Trader Joe's canvas bags and a Chico bag for my purse but after going to the fabric outlet and buying 6 yards of this cute polka dotted fabric for $3 a yard I decided to sew a cute matching set of my own. I used the Morsbags pattern, which was super easy to follow. Here's the first one!

Alien Tulips

That's what these little flowers look like to me! This is only my second handbag, made with help from the wonderful instructors over at the Crafter's Studio. I sewed in my first zipper AND used a serger!

Leopard Handbag

This week I took a workshop at The Crafter's Studio, a great new space in Santa Cruz, on how to make a handbag. The workshop was fantastic, but I was a bit sad that we didn't finish our projects in the first class and that I have to go back this week to get it finished. Rather than trying to finish the project on my own (there were zippers and other tricky things I'm a bit intimidated by) I decided to make another one this weekend. I partially used an Amy Butler pattern but changed the handles and added a magnetic clasp and some partitioned pockets on the inside. I'm loving the finished product!!
